SURGICAL TECHNIQUE FOR HEPATIC VENOUS RECONSTRUCTION IN LIVER TRANSPLANTATION

Artificial Organ and Transplantation Division, Department of Surgery, University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan

Yasuhiko Sugawara, Masatoshi Makuuchi

In living-donor liver transplantation, one of the tactics of hepatlc vein reconstruction is to obtain a Iong and wide venous orifice. The short hepatic vein should be reconstructed in the left liver graft with a caudate lobe. In the modified right liver graft, the tributaries of the middle hepatic veins should be reconstructed if there are no communicating veins between the middle and right hepatic veins.
