A new method to visualize the cervical lymph nodes during thyroid operation was describecl On animal experiment, admixture ratio of chlorophyll and Lipiodol UF. time interval between injection and X-ray examination or operation, and histologic changes within the thyroid and lymph nodes were evaluated, anrl the following results were attained; (1) admixture ratio of chlorophyl and Lipiodol UF was best when these agents were equivalent in amount, (2) cervical lymph nodes were adequately seen on X-ray film as well as during operation 48 to 72 hours after the injection or the chlorophyll-Lipiodol UF, and (3) it revealed on histological examination that chlorophyll-Lipiodol UF have only little. if any, stimulant or destructive effects on the thyroid gland and lymph nodes.
From these results it is concluded that the thyroid chromolymphography is heneficial in visualization of cervical lymph nodes during thyroid operation.
