CURRENT STATUS OF AND FUTURE OUTLOOK FOR ROBOTIC ESOPHAGECTOMY
Robotic esophagectomy for esophageal cancer has been transitioning to the implementation stage from the development stage due to its affinity with thoracoscopic esophagectomy as a minimally invasive surgical procedure, even though it has only been a few years after its inclusion under insurance coverage. In the current situation, by evaluating robotic esophagectomy using both evidence-based medicine and experience-based medicine, minimally invasive surgery has already undergone a paradigm shift to robotic surgery with the same safety level as thoracoscopic surgery. However, the benefits and survival rates remain controversial.
