SHARING THE APPEAL OF SURGERY WITH YOUNG PHYSICIANS AND MEDICAL STUDENTS THROUGH SOCIAL NETWORK SERVICES
Social networking services (SNS) are not only a means of communication, but also valuable tools for collecting information. In Japan, various SNS platforms have been used, including LINE, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Each SNS has unique characteristics in terms of user demographics, particularly in terms of gender and age-groups. Because SNS platforms are shaped by the demographics of their users, it is critical to choose a platform based on the type and purpose of the content to be shared. Our preferred SNS platforms are Instagram, X, and Facebook. When sharing content on these platforms, it is important to maintain the accuracy of content, refrain from using inappropriate expressions, comply with copyright laws, and take the utmost care to protect personal information. We also recommend that SNS activities should be conducted through a team system so as not to overwhelm any individual. It is important for the content to attract young physicians and medical students, and SNS is one means to convey such information. We hope that sharing the appeal of surgery through SNS will increase the number of young physicians and medical students interested in this field of medicine.
