The treatment of keloids has always been a formidable task and no definitive treatment method has yet been established. We have thus studied the histopathological findings to develop a new and effective treatment for keloid scars. In this article, we first describe the morphological and histopathological analysis of keloid lesions and then secondly keloid treatment methods with a mast cell degranulation suppressant that we developed and a modified enucleation method to remove keloid-forming cells and suppress the herniation-like phenomenon. We further summarize other currently available keloid treatment methods.
