Various modes of treatment with an immunoglobulin preparation for intravenous injection were studied in 141 patients who received the immunoglobulin in combination with antibiotics in order to care infections. The following conclusions were obtained.
1) Effect to prevent postoperative complications by infections depends on initial doses of the immunoglobulin.
2) The immunoglobulin in combination with suitable antibiotics was considered to prevent the occurence of infections with pseudomonas aeruginosa.
3) Fever was relieved earlier, when immunoglobulin was given in an early stage within 2 days after onset of infectious complications in combination with suitable antibiotics and injected every day for 3 or more days. Total dose of immunoglobulin should be more than 150 mg/kg within 5 to 6 days.
4) About one third of patients were unresponsive to immunoglobulin treatment within 5 to 6 days. These cases had severe complications, prolonged fever and required immunoglobulin for a long time.
