T. Takenaka

Forty-three male.JCL-SD rats were subjected to the present studies. Eighteen of them were fed with commercially available foods for 9 weeks and served as control group. Eleven rats fed with specially prepared foods which contained no zinc at all and with water containing 6 gm of L-histidine per 400 ml for 9 weeks showed remarkable fall of serum zinc level, whereas 14 rats fed with foods containing additional zinc (2,000 ppm) for 10 weeks showed marked elevation of serum zinc level. Zinc contents of red blood cells were, however, not different among these three groups.
