PANCREATIC CYSTS
-A REVIEW OF 18 CASES-

Our experience with pancreatic cysts has been reviewed. There were 14 pancreatic pseudocysts and 4 "true" cysts in our surgical department over a 10-year period.
78.6 percents of pancreatic pseudocyst was following a bout of pancreatitis. Four “true” cysts were retention cyst in two, cystadenoma in one and cystadenocarcinoma in one. The common symptoms of both groups were abdominal pain and palpable tumor. Spontaneous resolution of pseudocysts were observed in 42 percents. Operation procedures for pancreatic pseudocysts were external drainage in 4, cyst-gastrostomy in one and pancreaticoduodenectomy in one.
Resection of cysts with partial pancreas were performed in 3 among 4 cases of pancreatic “true” cysts. Clinical observations and treatmants were discussed with a recent literatures.
