Acute abdomen in children may occur in severe diseases and underlying conditions affecting mortality and motility and may not be diagnosed and treated early and appropriately. If strangulation ileus, ischemia of organs, bleeding, peritonitis, or shock is suspected, early diagnosis by ultrasound and enhanced computed tomography and prompt treatment are needed. Surgeons must be involved not only in the treatment of acute abdomen in pediatric patients but also in its diagnosis and in educating new pediatricians. It is important that surgeons maintain good communications with pediatricians.
