Third-grade medical students of Hirosaki graduate school of medicine discussed the problems of doctors’ working environment and possible solutions. Many students regarded long-time working hours and a lack of work-life balance as the most important issues. They also stated that they find it difficult to work in the current environment. Furthermore, they hoped for an environment, which clearly separates work from private life. Several differing values existed between young people’s opinions and the current working style of doctors. It may be meaningless to improve the working environment without reflecting on young people’s opinions. Discussion about doctors’ working environment should consider young people’s opinions, which would help young people become good doctors.
