Osaka Prefectural Senri Critical Care Medical Center, Osaka, Japan

Muneo Ota

The situation and the view of organ donation about the participation at transplantation network, are being concerned widely. The physicains in this side are conscious of many contradictions between social opinions and clinical actuality which must be revised as follows.
(1) The suggestion of difficulties in judgement of brain death, is not actual, because only cases whithout any difficulty are selected as donors.
(2) Family's accept of brain death is easier than the imagination of citizens, because families can well understand the effort payed by physicians.
(3) Families'consciousness in donation are divided into two cases ; one is to retain any part of fresh body, another is to give the last opprotunity of social contribution. They are based upon the love of mankind, and the act to respect the dignity of dead person, in which no one may interven.
(4) The negative attitude of emergency physicians mainly comes from the embarrassment of the confusion of social opinions. However, the consciousness is changing now and many of them contend the scientific realities.
Multiple organ procurement, single information route, judgement of brain death by donation side, determinahion of organ function by transplantation side, and intimate report, are the important factors of a good network.
