ACASE OF RUPTURED ANEURYSM OF THE PROFUNDA FEMORIS ARTERY TREATED SUCCESSFULLY BY TRANSCATHETER EMBOLIZATION

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Mitsui Memorial Hospital, Tokyo, Japan

A 55 year-old man with ruptured aneurysm of the profunda femoris artery was treated successfully by transcatheter embolization.
The selective angiography of profunda femoris artery following embolization disclosed that the aneurysm was occluded completely on both its distal and proximal sites, and blood flow was preserved just proximal to the aneurysm.
We concluded that this new, less invasive method of transcatheter embolization in a patient with aneurysm of the profunda femoris artery may be a treatment of choice.
