Report on the annual meeting
MULTIDISCIPLINARY(MULTIMODALITY) TREATMENT OF LUNG CANCER
-WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SURGICAL TREATMENT一
One thousand and fifteen cases of primary lung cancer received surgical treatment from 1952 to 1987 in our department. Chronologically this period was divided into 3 terms, early (-1962) , middle (-1978.3) and late (1978.4-1987) terms. The changes and the results of surgical treatment and the development of the adjuvant multidisciplinary treatment were reexamined. Five year survival rate of middle and late terms was 38%. This significant improvement is mainly due to the increase of the ratio of early stage lung cancer and to the development of new protocol based on the in vivo and in vitro study of BRM and chemotherapy. The newly developed protocols against SCLC and NSCLC and the results of these studies were also discussed.
