RECONSTRUCTION IN THE GROIN AND PERINEUM
Our experience in the reconstruction of the groin and perineum is described.
If not contraindicated, the skin graft furnishes coverage for the excised defects. Because, recurrence of the tumor can be checked more easily than any other methods. Some precautions of the skin graft in the perineum are described.
If the skin graft is inadequate, the appropriate flap must be selected according to the site and properties of the defects. Four principal flaps are described. The gracilis myocutaneous flap and the inferior gluteal thigh flap are fitted to the reconstruction in the perineum. The tensor fascia lata myocutaneous flap is fitted to the reconstruction of the floor of the pelvis, and the coverage of the groin. The gluteus maximus myocutaneous flap is fitted to the reconstruction in the buttocks.
For the “functional reconstruction”, the importance of microsurgical techniques is emphasized.
