RECONSTRUCTION OF CERVICAL ESOPHAGEAL SURGERY

First Department of Surgery, Tokyo Medical and Dental University

Mitsuo Endo

The co-operation with the plastic surgery has been taken in the cervical esophageal cancer and the repair of the major suture insufficiency of the esophagoplasty. The method of the cervical esophageal reconstruction was selected depending on the location occupied by the main lesion and the multiple lesions in the thoracic esophagus. In cases in which the tumor was limited to the hypopharynx and cervical esophagus with no recognizable multiple lesins, reconstrction by free jejunum autotransplantation was employed with the microvascular surgery. When the defect of skin was large in the cervical region, the wound was covered with the skin flap or the myocutaneous flap. The esophageal re-reconstruction was performed in the major leakage of the previous esophagoplasty. The free jejunum autotransplantation and the pectoralis major myocutaneous flap were employed. The indication of the general surgery, especially the surgery of cancer, is suspected to be enlarged with the co-operation of the plastic surgery.
