SURGERY FOR POSTINFARCTION-MECHANICAL COMPLICATIONS

From 1968 to 1986, 107 patients with postinfarction-mechanical complicatins were surgically treated. Hospital mortality : Ventricular aneurysm was 3/62 (4.8%), free wall rupture was 4/5 (80%), ventricular septal perforation was 6/29 (20.7%), papillary muscle rupture was 0/1 (0%), mitral valve dysfunction was 0/8 (0%) and pseudoaneurysm was 0/2 (0%). In this report, the patients with severe coronary heart disease were described from Surgical point of view.
