The malignant potential of large intestinal carcinoma is a biological acting power of cancer cell itself, and completely different from a stage-classification which is artificial.
Abnormality of mytosis and proliferation of cancer cells is related to a histogram pattern of the nuclear DNA contents, while destroying power of cancer cells is related to the vascular invasion and to the lymphatic permeation.
Aneuploid cases tend to be poor in prognosis even in early cancer, and hyperploid cases show higher rate of cancer death.
Cases of high malignant potential must be treated with more extensive resection than usual, accompanying intensive adjuvant therapy.
