Recently, surgical procedure tends to perform extensive operation for surgical patients. Consequently the organ is frequently removed in large portion and the patients fall into functional organ failure. If we have some supportive therapy for the condition, it is very convenient to such cases.
While in fundamental medicine, tissue or cell culture technique has been developed in order to clear the functions of various organs. The technique of cell preparation and preservation has also progressed concomitantly for the cell culture. It is very important to create an excellent culture system to analyze the organ function. From another point of view, this system is one of the biomimetic techniques which reconstruct the organ function in in-vitro culture system. If we can develope this system, we may apply it to the patients with functinal organ failure. The ex-vivo development of this system is called bioartificial organ and the in-vivo development of this system is called transplantation.
In this report, the cases with the liver failure and the pancreas disease were described from this point of veiw.
