Report on the annual meeting

SURGICAL TREATMENT OF ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE

Second Department of Surgery, Nihon University School of Medicine, Tokyo

Yukiyasu Sezai

Two decade have passed since an A-C bypass procedure was first performed in the U.S.A. and we had the first successfull case of this procedure in Japan, 1970, as a surgery for the treatment of ischemic heart disease and numerous reports have been published on cases treated by this operation and its longterm results. I lectured about surgical history, diagnostic progress, pathophysiological problems, surgical techniques, myocardial protection and some aspects of the surgical problem on the surgical treatment on coronary artery surgery.
I think that the surgical treatment has a excellent potential as a manegement of choice in patient with angina pectoris and myocardial infarction.
