A very rare case of thyroid hemangioma associated with hypothyroidism was presented.
The patient was a 7-year-old boy, with a bilateral goiter which contained two nodules in the isthmus. Retardation of growth was recognized, and examination revealed hypothyroidism.
Enucleation of thyroid nodule was performed and its microscopic examination revealed follicular adenoma. The specimen obtained from thyroid tissue surrounding the nodule showed the presence of capillary hemangioma occupying the large part with remains of a few thyroid acini. The histologic architecture accounts for the hypothyroidism in this case.
Considering that the hemangioma in this case is not an aggressively growing neoplastic disease, the patient has been kept well under the conservative treatmemt with thyroid hormon administration.
