EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COLLATERAL VESSELS DUE TO THE MECHANICAL ASSISTED CIRCULATARY SUPPORT FOR THE OCCLUSION OF THE PERIPHERAL ARTERY

2nd Department of Surgery, Nihon University School of Medicine, Tokyo (Director: Prof. Yukiyasu Sezai, M.D.)

The prognosis in the obstructive peripheral artery disease depends on the development of the collateral vessels. There are two important factors for the development of the collateral vessels; Pressure change on the vessel wall due to the pulsatile blood flow and the elasticity of the vessel wall.
The local circulatory support was done with the pulsatile pump and the driving control circuit, and these significant results were obtained.
