Experimental studies on cryoimmunization were performed, using Donryu rat transplanted with AH109A carcinoma.
Results:
1. Following conditions are needed to make complete destruction of tumor of 1 cm in size by direct immersing method with liquid nitrogen. 1) Contact freezing time should be over 40 seconds 2) Temperature the tumor should be at least -170℃ 3) Thawing time requires 19 minutes.
2. Under the condition in which tumor disappeared after the cryotreatment, the cryoimmunization occurred two weeks later and became maximam on the 4th week. Maximal level of immunity continued to the 7th month and disappeared on the 10th month.
By MI test, the cryotreatment group shows significant difference against the tumor-bearing group and the normal group.
3. More or less, the cryoimmunization was induced in tumor bearing rats after cryotreatment.
4. The cryotherapy group prolonged the survival time compared to the surgical group.
