In order to minimize the length of surgical wound in an operation of PDA, mid-axillary incision is recommended.
Several centimeters is enough to divide PDA in patients under 4 years old. The left third intercostal space is opened. The division of PDA is carried out following the clamp by means of four Potts instruments.
The left recurrent nerve should be carefully avoided from injury. Suture of PDA is done by 5-0 nylon. It's started from pulmonary side.
This approach is superior to conventional methods especially in cosmetic points.
