A case of 42-year-old man with the diagnosis of celiac-sslenic aneurysm which ruptured into the main pancreatic duct was reported. The celiac-splenic aneurysmectomy with concomitant splenectomy and distal pancreatectomy was successfully performed. The common hepatic artery was ligated and divided. The postoperative angiography of the superior mesenteric artery demonstrated that blood supply to the liver was maintained through the pancreaticoduodenal arcades from the superior mesenteric artery.
Histological examination of the resected specimen revealed that the aneurysm was due to fibromuscular dysplasia (medial fibroplasia).
According to the English and Japanese literature, only 53 cases of celiac artery aneurysm have been reported, and most of them were atherosclerotic in origin.
