RASTELLI'S OPERATION FOR SEVERE TYPE OF TETRALOGY OF FALLOT

Department of Surgery, Kanazawa University School of Medicine

Takashi Iwa

Rastelli's operation is a useful method for discontinuity between the heart and the pulmonary circulation. We have performed this operation on 7 cases and one of these cases was shown by a cine-movie-film.
The case presented was 19 years female, recieved Blalock-Taussig's operation and Waterston operation previously.
As technical consideration of surgery, external conduit should be placed smoothly in the chest cavity without kinking or compression. In these group of congenital abnormalities, collateral flow increases extraordinally and blood return to the heart from the lung is profuse. Great care and management for this matter should be taken. A new method of semi-embedding valved conduit in the heart, was applied on 2 cases.
