A 80 years old woman was admitted to our hospital because of anal tumor protruding through the anus after defecation. She had been suffering from tendency of constipation and anal tumor after defecation for a long time. And, she felt abdominal pain on admission.
The tumor measuring 8 by 5 cm, had smooth surface, dark red color, elastic consitence and tendency to bleeding. Incision was made through the mucus menbrane under the local anesthesia. The lipoma was pedunculated and bulged through the incision. The bright yellow fat could be seen shining. Lipoma of the rectum is rarely encountered and must always be considered in the differential diagnosis of adenomatous polyps or carcinomatous lesions.
