Shigeru Yasuda

Today, when intestinal anastomosis with the autosuture instrument is being used clinically for trial purposes and also for clinical application, the author made animal experiments in order to study whether this anastomosing technique meets the principles of wound healing or not, investigated the morphologic characteristics of the healing course histopathologically and microangiographically, and furthermore compared the healing course with that in hand-suture anastomosis representative of the known techniques.
The intestinal anastomosis with the autosuture instrument did not provide the layer-to-layer suture hence, it does not completely satisfy the principles of stump healing. However, it yielded an early, uniform healing tendency on the whole circumference, giving a favorable result which was no inferior to the result of layer-to-layer anastomosis. Therefore, the intestinal anastomosis with the autosuture instrument which has many procedural advantages may be said to be clinical useful.
