1 . In order to clarify whether the removal of whole regional lymph nodes including metastasized lymph nodes is effective method, the changes in functions and structures in C3H/He bearing mouse ascites hepatomas, MHI34, were daily observed.
2. The PHA blastogenesis rate was lower at proximal nodes than at distal nodes. The rate was lower in non-metastasized lymph nodes of tumor-bearing mice than in those of control. There appeared an increase of immunity in the metastasized proximal lymph nodes.
3. The degree of sinus histiocytosis occured in tumor-bearing mice was low at the proximal.
In metastasized lymph nodes the grade was higher at the proximal, but in non-metastasized lymph nodes it was higher at the distal.
4. No particular characteristics were found in germinal center hyperplaisa.
5. The degree of paracortical hyperplasia was lower at the distal. In non-metastasized lymph nodes the degree was lower at the proximal, but in metast asized lymph nodes it was lower at the distal.
6. There was much variety in the degree of metastasis in various parts.
7. Two flows of the lymph were found.
