THE SURGICAL TREATMENT OF THE PULMONARY DISORDERS IN INFANCY AND CHILDHOOD

One hundred and twenty seven cases of pulmonary disorders were treated surgically with 100 pulmonary resections during past 13 years.
Clinical features, diagnosis, indications for surgery and the extent of the operative procedures are discussed.
Further more, evaluations of present clinical status were made in 62 pulmonary resected patients and pulmonary function was determined by spirometry in 40 patients over 8 years of age.
Most of these patients except bronchiectasis group are free from any symptom postoperatively. Pulmonary function after surgery seems to be mainly affected adversly by the thoracic deformity.
