The cases of resected gastric cancer were given long-term adjuvant immunochemotherapy with Mitomycin-C in combination with PS-K (a protein-bound polysaccharide from a basidiomycetes) and/ or FT-207 (a derivertive of 5-FU). In the cases of absolute non-curative resection, administration of large-dose intratumoral OK-432 (a preparation of Streptococcus hemolyticus) was added. The survival rate and the change of immunological parameters were investigated. The obtained results were summerized as followes:
1) In the cases of curatively resected gastric cancer, the survival curve was prolonged in the group of PS-K and FT-207 administration.
2) As for the immunological parameters in this group, PPD skin reaction was improved and DNCB skin reaction revealed a high rate of positive response. Furthermore, lymphocyte blastogenesis induced by PHA and PWM was highly responded.
3) In the cases of absolute non-curatively resected gastric cancer, PPD and DNCB skin reactions were improved after large-dose intratumoral OK-432 administration.
