CLINICAL STUDY OF NEUROBLASTOMA, ESPECIALLY METASTATIC NEUROBLASTOMA
(STAGE Ⅲ AND Ⅳ)

76 cases of Neuroblastoma observed during 6 years from 1971 to 1976 in Kyushu are clinically analized. 54 cases are followed up over 2 years, 22 cases of them are still alive with the survival rate of 40 percent.
The feature of advanced cases, Stage III and IV A,B (41 cases) are presented, 11 cases of them are still alive and only 4 cases surviving more than 2 years.
In such advanced cases, it is also impossible to perform the complete surgical resection of the tumor, therefore, operative resection is carried out at a delayed primary operation or a second-look procedure, following a significant decrease in the size of the primary lesion related to irradiation and/or chemotherapy. It is considered that in addition to the surgical treatment, a combination of the chemotherapies, irradiation treatment, immunological therapy and maturational therapy are necessary to obtain more longer survival time.
