STUDIES OF BLOOD COAGULABILITY ON PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC ARTERIAL OCCLUSIVE DISEASES
Blood coagulability and fibrinolysis were studied on patients with chronic arterial occlusive disease : Buerger's disease, arteriosclerosis obliterans and aortitis syndrome. The following results were obtained.
1. Tendency to hypercoagulability was found in patients with Buerger's disease and aortitis syndrome.
2. Definite increase of heparin tolerance was found in patients with all three diseases.
3. Blood clot was hardly resolved by fibrinolysis in many patients with Buerger's disease and aortitis syndrome.
4. Increase of heparin tolerance and prolongation of euglobulin lysis time were more exaggerated in patients with Buerger's disease who had frequent recurrences compared to those without such episodes.
5. Abnormality in coagulability and fibrinolysis is considered to be one of the causative factors or to take a part at least in development of the Buerger's disease.
