CEREBRAL HEMODYNAMIC IN ACUTE STAGE OF HEAD TRAUMA

Surgical Department, Saisekai Central Hospital (Director: Dr. Tsumoru IIZUKA)

Teruo YAMANAKA

I studied of cerebral hemodynamics on 31 patients who were in acute stage of head trauma by nitrous oxide method.
The following results were obtained :
1) Negative correlation was obtained between decrease of cerebral blood flow and increase of cerbral vascular resistance.
2) There was not any compensating function among the cerebrospinal pressure, cerebral blood flow and cerebral vascular resistance.
3) Decrease of cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen and glucose was observed in most of the cases and they showed similar changes.
4) There seemed to be strong tendency of increase of ER02 and this may be due to circulatory metabolic disturbance but ERgl is affected by change of arterial blood sugar level in most of cases.
5) Disturbances of oxygen and glucose supply were observed in many comatous cases.
6) Among changes of cerebral hemodynamics, cerebral vascalar resistance, cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen and glucose seem to last for a quite long time with or without recovery even after clinical symptomes were improved.
