STUDY ON THE ETIOLOGY OF THE BANTI DISEASE I. SEROLOGICAL STUDY OF THE EXPERIMENTAL PORTAL HYPERTENSION
Antibody was proved in all cases which portal hypertention was regarded high by sensitizating rabbits with albumin. This is to say, this hypertension is due to the antigen-antibody-reaction, but it is occasionally possible to be regarded low within a normal pressure in spite of the existence of antibody. The author studied serologically.
The result of the study is summarized bellow :
(1) Antigen-" Titer " and antibody-" Titer " did not show together the correlation with the portal pressure.
(2) Antigen-antibody-ratio is large on rabbits by an early sensitization, but it becomes small according to a long term, and in the group of a steady value of the antigen-antibody-ratio the portal hypertension was recognized.
(3) When the sensitization was stopped, the pressure of rabbit to cause the portal hypertension showed the descent, and the antigen-antibody-ratio also changed with this descending.
(4) In spite of the continuance of the sensitization for a long term, it is possible that the antibody which has once appeared, may decrease or disappear (8 cases in 52). The portal pressure of such rabbits existed within a normal pressure and also was not regarded high by re-injection.
