CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW IN BRAIN TUMOR CASES-CONTINUED

Surgical Department, Keio University School of Medicine

Ichio KUDO

1. Studies of the cerebral blood flow in brain tumor cases were performed clinically and experimentally by the N2O method of Kety-Schmidt.
2. As a experimental brain tumor increased cerebrospinal fluid pressure was produced by inflating of a balloon which was inserted into the extradural space of the cranium of a dog and blood circulation of the brain was studied.
From the above mentioned procedure it was concluded that the remarkable decreasing of cerebral blood flow and of cerebral metabolic rate and remarkable increasing of cerebral vascular resistance were induced by the balloon.
3. The similiar tendency of changes of these three indicators was obtained from the studies on the 22 cases of brain tumor, namely dereasing of cerebral blood flow and of cerebral metabolic rate and increasing of cerebral vascular resistance.
4. These changes of three indicators of brain tumor cases have inproved remarkably after the successful operations.
