HAEMATOLOGICAL STUDY OF HUMAN BEING AFTER ESOPHAGEAL OR GASTRIC SURGERY (ESPECIALLY AFTER TOTAL GASTRECTOMY)
The author presents the following conclusion :
1) Esophageal and gastric resections of the cardiac side do not cause agastric anemia even after long years.
2) Among cases of gastric resection including antral resection subtotal gartrectomy hypochromatic anemia were found.
3) In cases of total gastrectomy transplantation of the jejunum present almost normal haematological findings for the first 3 years, but in most cases after 3 or more than 3 years hyperchromatic anaemia was found without any difference of operative method.
4) After more than 3 years megaloblast were found in bone marrow in 3 of 16 cases after total gastrectomy.
5) Degree of agastric anaemia, amount of iron in the serum, calcium or phosphate in the serum, rate of digestion and resorption of protein, and function of the liver are related each other.
6) Combined treatment of V.B
12, follic acid and iron presented best result for the megaloblastic anaemia after total gastrectomy.
7) Under such treatment long living patients treated by these surgery in our department are enjoying almost normal life.
