Kenzo OYAMA

Ten-year-follow-up resuit of patients of war head injury due to blunt power was studied by correspondence in 28 cases. Disturbanc of speech and motor disturbance of extremities which were probably caused by organic changes, gradually improved during long period, but posttraumatic disorder were incurable. Headache, and dizziness did not improve mostly even 10 years after injury, if there was no sign of improvement within 1-2 years. Memory, calculation, thinking, etc. showed worst improvement. In many cases blurring of vision improved, but narrowing of visual fieId was difficult to be cured. Cases in which insufficient air insufflation of cortical surface, showed mostly a tendency of subjective improvement at the time of discharge from hospital and same result was obtained even after 10 years. In cases in which favorable effect was obtained immediately after cranioplasty, good result was obtained also 10 years after operation. Whereas in cases in which there was no change of the skull and no indication of surgical operations, improvement of subjective complaints was very rare.
