HISTOLOGICAL AND CLINICAL STUDIES ON MAMMARY TUMORS, WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO INTERRELATION BETWEEN THE MAMMARY CANCER AND MASTOPATHIA

Recently many authors have discussed about the genetic correlation between mammary cancer and mastopathia.
From this study, it was confirmed that the mammary cancers changed from mastopathia were extremely rare, even if they might be exsisted.
In many cases malignant changes of mastopathia occur in high age over 40-year-old and, therefore it is reasonable to consider that the age of the patients suffering from the mastopathia might be one of the most important components causing malignant changes of mammary tumors.
From the therapeutic point of view it was considered not to be justified that the the mastopathia in younger females should be resected.
In 2 out of 106 cases with mammary cancer some parts of tumor tissue were identified to show the histological manifestation of fibroadenoma, and, from this, the latter be suspected to have intimate correlation and to develop malignant change to mammary cancer.
The follow-up study of radical operation for mammary cancer showed so poor results, survival cases for 3 years being only 28.8% that it could be concluded that the early diagnosis, radical operation in early stage and radiation following the operation were important for the relief of mammary cancer.
