INDUCED ANOXEMIA, HYPERCAPNEA AND CEREBRAL CIRCULATION
1. We have studied experimentally in dogs the influence of anoxemia and hypercapnea on the blood circulation of the brain.
2. From the results of this studies we have noticed that the induced anoxemia causes an increase of the cerebral blood flow, a slight increase of the cerebral metabolic rate and no changes of the cerebral vascular resistance.
3. And hypercnpnea causes a marked increase of the cerebral blood flow, an increase of the cerebral metabolic rate and decrease of the cerebral vascular resistance.
4. In adrenal-gland extirpated animals, induced anoxemia causes on the contrary a marked decrease of the cerebral blood flow and cerebral metabolic rate, and an increase of the cerebral vascular resistance.
