Surgical Department, KEIO University Medical School

Takeo AMAAKI

Nowaday it is most popular to use the sexual hormones for the treatment of MASTOPATHIA. We also hormones use these (20 mg. of Estrogen, 50 mg. to 100 mg. of Progesterone and 50 mg. to 210 mg. of Androgen) for the 112 cases of this disease, in which 80 biopsies were able to be done after 3 months.
Conclusion was as follows:
1. Estrogen was not effctive clinically and histologically, i.e., tumors did not become soft, painless and small, but rather severe. By histoIogical study, it was as same as before.
2. Progesterone and Androgen were effective. Tumor became as soft as normal breast and smaller. Pain disappeared. Histologically, proliferation of the cell of the breast gland cysts were all disappeared and fibrosis was appeared markedly. Round cell infiltration of the specimen, in which pain was recognized, disappeared, too.
3. Five Cases not affective in spite of the use of Amdrogen and Progesterone. These were the cases those had giant cyst, marked prolifieration of pail epithelium and serious fibrosis from the beginning.
