CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES UPON THE FLUIDTHERAPY IN THE SURGICAL PATIENTS
PART 3: STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF SOME FLUID THERAPIES AS THE TREATMENT OF SURGICAL PATIENTS

Surgical Department of Sagamihara National Hospital (Directed by Soiti YANAGI and Tosio TAKAFUZI)

Goro MIZUKAWA

The effect of glucose solution, one of the most popular fluid transfused to the surgical patients, was studied. The author reported some findings about the transfusions rate, diuretic effect and water exchange, the prevention of postoperative ketosis, nitrogen spareing effect, and the utility rate when combined with amino-acid solutions.
The effect of protein infused postoperatively was discussed in relation to water and electrolytes metabolism. In general, the latter was found stabilized, when the amount of protein transfused. But the most important factor was beliebed the correction of the preoperative conditions.
Recent advance about the fluids for transfusion with plasma substitute action is now well known. The author has studied upon the clinical indication and the limit dosis of its volume of infusion. The infusion of the amount of the fluid must be avoided, to such patients as anemic, bypoproteinemic, and anoxic during operations.
