STUDIES ON THE PATHOGENITY OF BACTERIA
PART II. PANICILLIN CONCENTRATION IN FOCUS WITH RELATION TO THE PATHOGENITY OF BACTERIA
Making focus of inflammation caused by staphylococcus aureus Aoki strain which produces staphylocoagulase and hyaluronidase, and causes hemolysis and marked inflammation on the skin of rabbits, and by staphylococcus aureus F.D.A. 209P strain which produces staphylocoagulase and hyaluronidase without hemolysis and very mild inflammation on the skin of rabbtis, and measuring the concentration of penicillin in focus after intramuscular injection of penicillin-G 5,000u/cc, I came to the conclusion;
(1) The concentration in case of Aoki strain was lower than that of 209P strain.
(2) The concentration of penicillin in focus varied daily, especially influenced by the progress of the inflammation.
