PATHO-MORPHOLOGICAL STUDY ON ELECTRIC SHOCK
A study of patho-morphological changes due to electric shock was done. The results were as follows :
1. Patho-morphological changes by electric shock under various conditions in rabbits were observed.
2. The changes of electric shock are circulatory disturbances which are mainly due to general congestion in blood capillaries and damage of parenchymal cells, which are very similar to pathohistological changes in ordinary shock.
3. Changes peculiar to electric shock are high degree of plasma stasis, parenchymal degeneration and vacuole-formation in the walls of small arteries.
4. Circulatory disturbance is marked in the organs and plasma stasis in the lungs. Damage of parenchyma is comparatively eminent in the liver and kidneys.
5. The above changes are marked when a fatal dose (100 Volts A.C., 8000 Joules) are passed. The changes by passing 300 Volts A.C. are similar to shock, but the degree and scope vary.
6. The degree of patho-histological changes are parallel with the degree of electric shock. In the cases in which antishock treatment was done or in which a reversible shock dose was given, the histological changes corresponded accordingly.
7. A new study on the relationship between the cause of electric shock and "alarm reaction" was done.
