ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHIC STUDIES ON PULMONARY RESECTION
Ecg changes during and after pulmonary resection were studied in 25 cases, which were operated under local anesthesia.
Such operation under local anesthesia and normal atmospheric pressure is more adequate to the investigation of pure thoracotomy or pulmonary resection.
In addition, 17 cases of other thoracic surgery and 10 cases of pulmonary resection under endotracheal anesthesia were studied as the control.
The results were as follows:
1. The pulmonary P were observed during and immediately after operation, but theirgrade was sligt and they diminished as soon as the operation were over.
2. The lowering of ST
I, III T
I, III and T
CFII were observed and the grade was the highest on 1st~3rd day after operation, then it returned to normal in 2 or 4 weeks.
3. The author interprets the above mentioned ecg. changes as being due to the myocardial failure of the right ventricle wall.
4. During the operation under endotracheal anesthesia (ether), various kinds of arrhythmia, such as ventricular extrasystole, tachycardia, bradicardia and auricular extrasystole, were noticed, but the changes of P and ST, T were slighter than those of the pulmonary resections under local anesthesia.
