CURRENT TRENDS AND FEATURES IN OFF-THE-JOB TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE USA

Off-the-job training (Off-JT) is of significant use for young surgeons who seek to acquire more advanced and technical professional skills. Thirty hours of Off-JT have been added to the requirements for a new board certification by the Japanese Board of Cardiovascular Surgery. This article reviews current trends in various Off-JT opportunities in the USA. Learning about them will hopefully enable us to extract valuable benefits that we should incorporate into Off-JT in Japan.
