In recent years, stem cell research including induced pluripotent stem cells has made dramatic progress, and so-called organ buds can be created in vitro based on each organ. However, it is necessary to consider the transplantation technology for these cell aggregates based on the site where the immature organoid will be developed. Our research has shown that: 1) for renal bud grafting, it is necessary to transplant the cells within the urinary tract system and perform reconstruction surgery at an early stage; and 2) in the transplantation of hepatic buds, it is possible to promote development by transplanting them to the stump of the recipient’s liver at the point where inflow of the portal vein system is required.
