This paper aims to evaluate the usefullness of tracheobronchoplasty in advanced lung cancer.
The studies were carried out using 63 cases of bronchoplasty for lung cancer, in which 35 or 55.6% were the third stage of lung cancer. The five-year-survival rate of these cases was 26.6%. This rate increased to 31.4% when it was calculated in the cases of squamous cell carcinoma. The survival curve of this group showed higher level than that of the resectable cases of lung cancer in the same group control.
The plastic operation was performed according to four in five criteria of the operative indication. Among them, all A2 and R3 had been applied to advanced lung cancer. These four criteria were analyzed in terms of the usefullness in each case, and confirmed the contribution to the operative results. The 5-year-survival cases have been obtained in A2 and R2 groups.
Summarizing these results, it is concluded that tracheobronchoplasty is an useful operation in advanced lung cancer.
