SURGERY OF THE AORTA; YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW
It is well known that the development of aortic surgery has been based upon that of the vascular prosthesis. Today, the usage of the Dacron or Teflon tube is a casual scene in every surgical clinics and the longest implants are taking older than almost twenty years. Obviously they are far behind from human aorta, however, keeping excellent function as blood conductor.
The problems that we are facing today in this field are as follows ; 1) how to treat the extensive aortic dissection and aneurysm of the aortic arch 2) How to get the reasonable operative indication for aortic aneurysm aged over 80 years* 3) How to be carried out the operation of the acute stage of Angitis* 4) What kind of graft and what method are most appropriate for the reconstructive arterial surgery in childhood*
These problems will be solved near future, and it is not unlikely to see that the surgery of the aorta become more popular in this country and less-invasive dignostic approach as well as therapeutic method be induced and the idea "The Surgery of the Circulatory System" take the great steps in the future hospitalisation, especially for far aged patients.
