PATHOLOGICAL AND CLINICAL STUDIES ON MITRAL STENOSIS

The summary of this thesis was reported by Prof. S. Sakakibara at the General Assembly of the Japanese Medical Asociation in April 1954, and also by Prof. H. Orihata at the Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery in October 1956.
On 376 cases of mitral stenosis, we compared the palpation, macroscopic observation during operations, histological observation of the left auricIe and the lung incised during operation and anatomical observation with subjective and objective symptoms before operation. As the result of the above comparison, it was concluded that the Ergometer load test showed the pathological changes and the subjective symptoms better than any other separate method of examination.
