Tatsuo KAKEGAWA

An experimental study was performed on 54 adult dogs in order to study the after measure of extensive diaphragmatic resection which is essential for the radical operation of pulmonary carcinoma.
1. Possibility of pulmonary invagination by pleural suture. Up to a half of defect due to diaphragmatic resection can be repaired by pulmonary invagination by pleural suture.
2. Diaphragmatic transplantation. Diaphragmatic tansplantation can be safely performed. Homo-or hetero-preserved graft of the diaphragm is the most suitable material for transplantation.
3. Future of transplant. Organization of transplant will be completed after 3 months.
4. Respiratory function after operation. Transplantation of the diaphragm shows more excellent postoperative respiratory function than pulmonary invagination by pleural suture.
5. For the repair of extensive defect of the diaphragm transplantation of the diaphragm is the most suitable method.
